In December 2014, MCE were awarded the project NWD00141-14 – DARWIN – HOWARD EAST BOREFIELD AUGMENTATION – CONSTRUCT RISING MAIN, BORE COMPOUNDS, ACCESS ROAD AND EQUIP BORES.

Scope of work:

  • The Works comprised of pipe and road extension to service four existing bores in the Howard East Borefield.
  • Approximately 3.4km of 450mm MSCL rising main with approximately 2.4km of 300mm GRP side connectors to the bores were supplied and installed in trench with all standard and manufactured bends and fittings.
  • The access road shall be all-weather for light vehicles and service the four new fenced compounds.
  • Submersible pumps, hose, sensors, manifold, control cabinet and SCADA with aerial and all other necessary peripherals as designed were supplied and installed.
  • Clearing and grubbing of pipe and road route was also part of this contract.
  • As this is a Borefield for public water supply, road material had to be sourced off site, erosion and weed control were required to be implemented and disturbance kept to a minimum.
  • The existing 22kV power network was extended by others to each compound with a pole-mounted transformer in each.
